OLSAT test secrets for gifted and talented kids

Most schools have some type of gifted and talented program for the top level academic students in their grade level. A lot of schools use the Olsat test to qualify kids for these gifted and talented programs. If you value your kids future and want them to excel in life you should strive to get your kids accepted into these advanced programs. The OLSAT test test is cheaper and cost less to administer then other standardized test and is not as accurate as other standardized tests like the Cogat or the Itbs test. Even so it is still used by a lot of school districts to access students progress and to place students in gifted and talented programs.

It is important to understand that gifted and talented programs only accept the top 1 or 2 percent of kids in their grade.  Kids are typically given the OLSAT test in second grade to see which kids will be placed in the third grade level gifted and talented program.  Gifted and talented programs are not just for above average students and it definitely takes parental intervention to get your kids into these advanced classes.   In rare cases some kids may not need any parental help to get them into the gifted and talented programs but for most kids parental intervention is the key to helping your kid excel on the OLSAT.

Most kids are borderline when it comes to doing well enough on the OLSAT to get them into the gifted and talented program. For example with two kids of equal intelligence who take the OLSAT test, the kid that properly prepares for and studies for the OLSAT will definitely do better then the kid who does not properly prepare for the OLSAT.

It is not hard to realize why you want your kid to get into the gifted and talented program. Normal school programs offer little chance for your child to succeed academically and your kid will always be pulled down by the lower academic students. Normal classes my allow you to prepare for college etc.. but gifted and talented programs are geared toward constantly challenging kids to do their best and compete with with other GIFTED and TALENTED kids.  It is not bad to just be placed into normal classes for kids with normal intelligence but you do owe it to your kid if they are smarter then normal to give them the best possible chance to succeed in life. Doing well on the OLSAT test can be the first step your kid takes to accomplishing great things in life

The OSAT test is a multiple choice test that measures kids abstract thinking and reasoning ability. This is basically how smart a kid is at thinking things through to find a solution to problems. Parents are usually at a loss as to just how to prepare their kids for these standardized tests. Doing the basics is the number one priority for doing well on the OLSAT. This means common sense methods to help your kid thinking abstractly to solve problems. Throwing away the video game system and turning off the TV is the first step in forming a young child's mind and keep their brains from turning into mush.  All normal children would rather sit and play video games and watch TV then study and learn. Doing well enough on the OLSAT to get your kids into the gifted and talented program takes work on the part of both the kid and the parents.

This means working with you kid on their homework, helping them learn their math skills and working with your child's school curriculum to ensure they are doing well in school. Kids should read books in their spare time and it is the parents job to keep kids from being lazy and letting their minds go to waste.

Just making sure that kids do their homework, understand math and reading is not really enough to help your kid do well enough on the OSAT to get them into the gifted and talented program. Remember that only 1-2 percent of the top students will get into the gifted and talented program.  Most parents are not educators so they have no reference to start from for knowing what it takes to get their kids into these gifted and talented programs. So for example if your child is in the second grade now and will be taking the OLSAT while they are in second grade for the third grade gifted and talented program then they should be studying the third grade OLSAT test prep bundle.
