Dremel 8000-03 review
73Dremel 10.8 volt lithium Ion cordless tool
I purchased this Dremel 10.8 volt lithium Ion cordless tool about six months ago and I have to say I am totally impressed.
The lithium ion battery is the new type of battery used by cordless tools and I will never go back to any other type of cordless tool battery system. The battery lasts for at least a good 3 hours of solid work. Plus the benefit of the lithium ion battery is that it will not lose its charge after it has been charged. Therefore after you are done using the tool you just recharge it and then put it away. It will stay charged up and this tool even has a battery indicator to show you how much juice you still have left in your battery. You can also just keep the Dremel on the battery charger continuously when not in use and you will not damage the lithium ion battery.
I do a lot of handy man work around the house and you would not believe the amount of times I have used this tool. For example today I needed to cut a piece of plastic tubing for my electrical conduit. Took me about one minute to put in the cutting blade and cut the tubing instead of looking through the house for another tool. I also use this tool for woodworking projects and my wife also loves to use this tool for her many ceramic pottery projects. I would say I easily use this tool a few times a week for just all type of odd jobs.
I am usually sceptical of having a rotary cordless tool due to it not being as powerful as a corded tool. This tool I have to say is every bit as powerful as any corded type rotary tool. I have tried to hold the chuck to stop it with my bare hands and this is impossible untill the battery is almost dead. It has power to spare believe me. I do suggest to wear safetly goggles and protect your hands when using this tool. It is really a powerful tool and not something the kids should be playing with. Also the fact that this tool has adjustable speed is an absolute must in my opinion as every project requires different speeds to do the job effectively.
At less then $70 I would say it is a no brainer. I was so pleased with mine I bought my dad this Dremel 8000-03 for my dads fathers day.
IMPORTANT NOTE..............
I would definitely recommend purchasing the Dremel 4486 Multipro Keyless Chuck.
I have not idea why this keyless chuck is not included with the tool but I would say it is a must have accessory. It can hold all sizes of bits from extremely small drill bits to the larger type bits. Having it be keyless saves lots of time by not having to use a wrench to tighten down the included chuck. Plus if you are like me you will misplace the wrench and I have to spend extra time just looking for the wrench. Just get the 4486 keyless chuck and you will be glad you did.
